About · Studio & story

A small studio
in Warsaw, printing
for the floor.

Tail & Bark started in 2022 as a question between two people and one whippet: why does the bowl on the kitchen floor get to be the ugliest thing in the room? We've been answering it ever since.

The idea.

Our first prototype was a Loop printed in five colors at our kitchen table, photographed against a white wall, posted on Pinterest. By the end of the week, sixty people had asked where they could buy one.

Today we run a small studio in Warsaw with a row of 3D printers, a post-processing bench, and a kettle that doesn't stop. Every piece we ship still passes through the same set of hands.

We've kept the studio deliberately small. We design in CAD, print in plant-based PLA Matte, and hand-finish the food-contact interior. It takes about 22 hours to make one bowl. We think that's about right.

“A dog's bowl is on display for ten meals a week. We think it should earn that place.”
What we believe

Four guardrails
we don't cross.

/ 01

Print to order

No warehouse, no overstock. Your piece goes into the print queue when you order it. If we wouldn't keep it ourselves, we don't ship it.

/ 02

Plants, not petroleum

Every piece is PLA Matte — a bioplastic spun from corn and sugarcane starch that can be composted at certified industrial facilities.

/ 03

Built for the animal

Dogs see yellow and blue clearly. Cats prefer low rims. Five of our seventeen colors are picked for canine eyes, not human Instagram feeds — though they happen to work for both.

The studio.

We're based in Warsaw, Poland. The printers run through the week, with the post-processing bench up front and a wall of color samples on the shelf.

The first Loop is sketched in CAD, printed overnight in Lemon Yellow, posted to Pinterest. The pre-orders pay for two more printers.

The Praga studio opens

We move into a 10m² space at the back of a former bakery. A few printers, a couple of benches, one rescue whippet named Pim.
